Half a day visit to the Art centre, to understand the detailed workmanship involved behind the scenes of one of the oldest art forms in the world - Kathakali, performing at your home town, on a daily basis.
Instead of spending time at a shopping mall or watching just another movie take you kids out to an art performance theatre to be part of a 17th century art form and interact with the performers.
Reach the performance centre at 5:00 pm. You could be in time for before the make up starts. It takes about 1 hour behind the scenes to do the dress up the artist. It is amazing to see the skills of the artists who careful draw the patterns and step by step add layers of makeup and you could see the artist coming to life. You could also understand the Mudra’s involved in the performers to understand the performance.
Once the make up is done sit back and enjoy the one of the most elaborate performance in the planet.
